Market Overview: Choppy Start, Strong Finish
The S&P had a tale of two halves this week, starting with some serious selling pressure before staging a convincing recovery into the weekend. We opened Monday at 7,439 and immediately got hit, selling off to 7,372 before finding some footing. Tuesday continued the weakness, gapping down to 7,382 and grinding lower to test 7,353 - which turned out to be our week's low.
That 7,353 level proved crucial. Wednesday marked the reversal, opening at 7,399 and rallying nearly 90 points to close at 7,447. Thursday built on that momentum beautifully, pushing through 7,486 and maintaining strength. Friday saw some early strength with a gap up to 7,499, tagging 7,524 for our week's high before pulling back modestly to close at 7,492.
Net result: +51 points on the week (+0.7%), but the 170-point range tells the real story. This wasn't a sleepy grind higher - we had legitimate two-way action with clear support and resistance levels. The fact we held that Tuesday low and never looked back is textbook bullish price action.
DT Algorithm Performance: Solid Week Despite Mixed Conditions
DT put together another strong performance with 11 wins against 4 losses, banking +70.3 points for the week. The 81% lifetime win rate held steady as the algorithm navigated both the early week chop and the later trending moves.
Monday's action was interesting - we caught two quick scalps while the market was finding its feet. The first long at 7,443 grabbed 7.5 points as we bounced off the morning lows, then another entry at 7,417 netted 9.2 points during the afternoon recovery attempt.
Tuesday was where DT really showed its value during the selling pressure. The algorithm went long at 7,392 near the session lows and rode it up 26 points to 7,410 - perfectly capturing that dead cat bounce. We did give some back with a stopped-out trade later in the session (-18.7 points), but that's exactly what risk management is for.
Wednesday brought the chop as the market tried to establish direction. We had three stopped-out trades during the volatile middle part of the session, but DT stayed disciplined and managed to book two smaller winners. This is where the algorithm's risk controls really matter - it doesn't chase or revenge trade.
Thursday was the standout day. With clear upside momentum established, DT caught a beautiful 35.5-point winner (hitting T2 target) on the entry at 7,443. Another long at 7,463 captured 20.2 points as we pushed toward the week's highs. These trending moves are where the algorithm really shines.
Friday presented a challenge with the morning gap up to 7,512. DT took one hit for -21.2 points as we faded from the highs, but immediately adapted and grabbed two quick winners near the 7,505-7,511 area as the market consolidated.
TF Algorithm: Quiet Week
No TF trades triggered this week. The overnight sessions didn't present the specific setup conditions the algorithm looks for. Sometimes the best trade is no trade.
Next Week: Testing Key Levels
We're heading into next week sitting at 7,492, just 32 points off our week's highs at 7,524. That high is now a key resistance level to watch - a clear break above opens up further upside, while rejection could bring us back toward the 7,440-7,450 area where we saw solid buying interest Thursday.
The bigger picture context is that we've essentially negated the early week weakness and are back in the upper part of our recent range. For DT, this sets up well for both directional moves and range-bound scalping opportunities. The algorithm has shown it can adapt to both environments.
TF will be looking for any volatility expansion during the overnight sessions, particularly around the 7,524 resistance and 7,450 support zones.
With month-end flows potentially coming into play and the ongoing macro backdrop, we could see some position adjustments that create the kind of trending moves both algorithms can capitalize on.
